No,
I'm Not Advocating Doing This
To Your Computer, BUT...
When you're a
web design novice like I am, you'll feel like doing this
MANY times in the process of creating your own website!
***********************
Yes, I could've
paid a "web guru" considerable $$$ to make the site flashy and "professional"
-- saving myself much time and grief. I'll probably still pay that
web guru to come behind me and correct the glitches, improve the inefficiencies
and polish it up a bit. For right now though it's entirely
mine... warts and all.
This is the first
website I've designed using Macromedia's Dreamweaver
MX.
It's a great program, even for rookies like myself. In the
past,
I created websites for our other family businesses, Morgan
Awards and
Miss
Stacie's
Tumblebus,
using basic templates in Microsoft FrontPage. I quickly
became frustrated with FrontPage (probably due in large
part to my own lack of design skills) and consequently have failed
to adequately
maintain those websites. However, I came across Dreamweaver and
took an intensive three day introductory class on the program through d'Vinci
Interactive in Hagerstown, MD. With newfound experience on Dreamweaver,
I'm planning to give our other sites
the updating
they deserve.
HELP WANTED!!
I'd like
to become more proficient on Dreamweaver and incorporate
advanced web techniques on rickrohn.com,
so consider this an advertisement for a Dreamweaver "coach" in
the Martinsburg, WV area. Let me know if you fit the bill
and are interested in working with me one-on-one. |
Now on to some
particulars about rickrohn.com...
- All pages
were laid-out using tables and will look best
in the following screen resolutions... 800 X 600, 1024 X 768
or
1280 X
960. The site takes advantage of the most recent
capabilities of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator
and Opera.
If
you're using an older version of one of these programs, consider
upgrading. It's easy to do and will make your online experience
more enjoyable.
- I'm no programmer,
but have incorporated basic javascript on some of the pages,
so make certain javascript is enabled in your browser to see
everything as intended.
- My "Privacy
Policy"
is simple. I don't do anything with names or personal
information submitted to me through this website. No selling
of e-mail addresses,
etc. (I hate spammers as much as anyone, although my daughter tells
me I shouldn't hate anyone). I strive to obtain consent
from anyone whose name or photograph appears on this website.
Bear in
mind,
that can be a tall order when using a group photograph (often containing
folks who I have no idea how to contact). So please... if you
find yourself here in name or in photo and wish to be
removed,
contact
me and I will honor your request immediately. No need to
sick legal counsel on me :-)
- I'm always
interested in promoting rickrohn.com and working
to promote others in related
businesses, so contact me if you'd like to exchange links and/or
information. For linking purposes, feel free to save and use
a copy of my logo
found in the upper lefthand corner of this page. I can also
e-mail my logo in a variety of other formats as you require.
- Unless otherwise
indicated, all photos were taken by yours truly.
- Lastly, please
don't "steal" anything off my website (i.e. photos, text, etc.).
If you'd like to use something you find here, just ask. I'm a
very agreeable guy!
